When you least expect it

While i was growing up, i had the distinct pleasure of getting to watch my parents love each other every single day. Of course, they had there ups and downs, as do all relationships, but they always fought through those problems instead of giving up on one another. It is because of their constant battles that I realized at a very young age what true love looks like.
My parents met in an extremely average manner, walking through the hallways of their high school. My father swears it was love at first sight. She walked around the corner, his eyes drifted to her face, and he was a goner. Never stood a chance. However, my mother swears that my father was a known womanizer and that she held no interest in the likes of him. He had been on the search for a prom date, and she was his last choice. They've only ever agreed on one detail: When my father asked my mother to prom, she turned him down without a second thought.
At this point, their love story should have ended in a one sided heart break. However, my parents did end up together. They had their first child, my brother, while in high school. Statistics show that teen parents rarely end up together, and that it is much harder for them to provide for their children throughout their lives. However, my parents beat those statistics into the ground. They stayed together, they got married, and they worked their asses off everyday to give me and my siblings the wonderful lives that they believed we deserve. Neither of them have a college degree, and yet they have provided us with a gorgeous home, more food than we could ever eat, and more love than we could ever realize.
After 20 years of marriage, 20 years of seeing the same face every morning, 20 years of fights and make ups... they still cant eat supper separately, or fall asleep alone. My mothers love for my father grows more every single day. You can see it in her eyes every time she looks at him. My fathers love for my mother nearly bursts through his chest. They are in love, in every form of the word. They are soul mates. That's something that most people search for their entire lives and my parents found it when they were only 16.
As their daughter, It's only natural that i have always dreamed of having a love like my mother's and father's. I have searched every corner of my town and not one man was good enough. I have dated boys that were younger and men that were older than i am. I have flirted endlessly with best friends whom i have always admired. In each prospect, i found a person that i could love. But, in none of them could i find my soul mate. It was quite a tiresome search. After my millionth heart break, i decided to stop searching, and in this decision i found my soul mate. Just as my father describes falling in love with my mother, he turned the corner and i caught a glimpse of his face and i was a goner. Im sure he describes the moment in a much different way, but i know that i have loved him since that very first glance. When you least expect it, love finds everyone. I'm not sure that's where i had planned on taking this post, but it's a pretty good note to end on either way.
